100% biodegradable dog bags
100% biodegradable dog bags
We all know the sight of a dog bag thrown in the wild. A normal plastic bag is broken down in nature after 10-20 years, but with biodegradable dog bags, the bag is broken down at almost the same rate as the contents. It also means you can easily throw the dog bag down in your green trash. If you have compost, then of course there are also compostable dog bags.
Our dog bags are 100% free

Boxes made of FSC-certified material
hem hem bags with a clear conscience
As we know through our regular clean-up actions, but also through exchanges with many cities and municipalities, a large number of dog waste bags still end up in the environment. Since these, unlike canines, are not themselves biodegradable, they can represent a major plastic waste problem for decades or even centuries.
It is therefore crucial for us that as many dog waste bags as possible are replaced with degradable material. With our biodegradable dog waste bags, we offer you the ideal solution:
– Made of the most modern generation of bioplastics
– OK compost HOME certified (tested at 20 – 30 ° C) by TÜV Austria
Decomposes to at least 90% under home compost conditions within 12 months at the latest
– Under good degradation conditions, almost complete degradation is possible after just 3 months
– Starch mixture made from 30% renewable raw materials (corn starch, waste) and biodegradable copolymer
– Free of plasticizers, polyethylene and genetically modified substances
– The roll cores made of cardboard
What does “biodegradable” plastic mean?
The term “bio” is used in plastics if materials that are either bio-based (contain a proportion of renewable raw materials, regardless of the amount of the proportion), are biodegradable or meet both criteria.
A biodegradable plastic that is 100% petroleum-based is therefore also referred to as a bioplastic or bioplastic, just as a plastic that is made from 100% vegetable components but is not degradable. The chemical structure of the plastic is crucial. Unlike food, the term “bio” in plastics does not mean the organic production of the renewable raw materials used.
We dog owners love to walk in green areas or by the water – in other words, where it is especially painful when plastic is left in nature. Often, however, dog bags are left in the wild. In addition, many bins are even deliberately disposed of to save money.
The easy solution
It is therefore crucial for us that as many dog bags as possible are replaced with biodegradable material. To ensure that biodegradation is also fundamentally possible at ambient temperatures, home compostability (OK compost HOME certification) is the best indicator from our point of view, as testing here is performed at 20 – 30 ° C, however under defined conditions. In comparison with industrial compostability, at temperatures sometimes above 60 ° C as well as oxo poop bags (approx. 98% PE + 2% additives such as EPI or d2w), home compostability is therefore a key added value for us.
Biodegradable dog waste bags from The Sustainable People are made from the latest generation of bioplastic and are OK compost HOME certified, ie. at least 90% degraded under home compost conditions no later than within 12 months. Under good degradation conditions in Hamburg’s nature (sufficient presence of microorganisms, solar radiation, moisture) only part of the nodule remained after three months in one of their tests in the spring.
